Environmental Day
Environment Day is commemorated worldwide each year under the direction of the United Nations to heighten public awareness about the environment. In recent times, the need to promote more ecofriendly practices in order to maintain the health of our planet has come to the forefront, as world nations struggle to reverse the present trend of climatic changes. The World Environment Day is a reminder to show our gratefulness to Mother Nature, which sustains all forms of life. This is the day to focus our thoughts and our energies to make collective efforts towards protecting the environment. India has rich traditional knowledge and wisdom in the conservation of nature and natural resources. Religious beliefs, culture and folklore have together treated nature and environment with sanctity. Conservation and protection of environment and love for nature have always been part and parcel of Indian ethos and culture. So it’s better to consume water and food and all other natural resources with much care. The Environment Day celebration was started in Believers Church Holy Angels Public School at 9.30 am. Our Principal Mrs. Jomol Rojan inaugurated the function by planting saplings in the school campus. All the teachers and representatives from PTA were present at this auspicious moment. As a part of teacher’s day, assembly was conducted by the teachers. It was followed by Guruvandanam. Students took over the role of teachers and managed the classes. They conducted games and entertainment programs for the teachers. Students also presented gifts to their teachers as a token of appreciation and gratitude towards them. The Inaugural ceremony of cultural fest started at 9.30 am. Principal Mrs. Jomol Rojan presided over the function. Arts club secretary Miss. Sonnet Rajesh delivered the welcome speech. Honorable chief guest Mrs. Shoshamma Mathai inaugurated the function by lighting the traditional lamp. Staff representative Mrs. V. Bindhu informed them about the fest’s rules and asked for the whole hearted cooperation of students and teachers to make the function successful. Arts club joint secretary Master Basil Eldhose delivered vote of thanks. After the inauguration various competitions were conducted in different stages. On 7th we started our second day cultural fest with common assembly. Soon after the assembly, the fest was started with the fancy dress competition. All students participated in the program and parents were also present as the audience to cheer their kids. Group dance and Mono act were the highlights of the day. At 3.00 pm, we started our valedictory function. Our chief guest was Mr. Paul C. Varghese. PTA President Mrs. Jiji Shijan extended the heartfelt acknowledgement towards the gathering and presented the chief guest our token of gratitude.
